(In)sensitive townscapes

Our cities are full of structures left to rot or die in a rush of cold blooded rationality. We pass them every day, without ever realising that their unique stories are constantly vanishing, brick after brick. Such blind apathy towards the invisible yet unique parts of the city fabric should be reconsidered as it leads us to a local memory and eventually identity loss. We are proposing a method of creative visual and narrative documentation, allowing us fight back by peeking inside and bringing it all back to the light of the day.

Participants will have to chose a derelict building, search for its story and document it in an artistic way. With such method we are going to map the landscape of interesting yet abandoned structures from all around Europe. The workshop with the same premise will happen in three different ways: 1. At E-EASA we will do research from home under the name of (In)sensitive EUROscapes. 2. At a local gathering we will research the aftermath of EASA 2016 “Not Yet Decided” at Nida, LT under the name of (In)sensitive EASAscapes. 3. At Baltic assembly we will research the forgotten urban elements of Valga, EST under the name of (In)sensitive VALGAscapes.
